THE PORTFOLIO OF AUDREY E.
IB ART INVESTIGATIVE WORKBOOK PAGES
On top of the creation of studio pieces, each student in IB Art HL receives one sketchbook per year called the Ivestigative Workbook (IBW) to catalog all of their research and have very strict requirements for the formatting of the IBW. Each page must be numbered, dated and have an image, a drawn image, and writing if possible, if not, two out of three of those is required. Pages should also, in general be visually appealing and have composition in mind. Each project should have 10 pages, and include artist references, cultural references, citations/sources of information, media experimentation, In progress photos of the studio piece and personal reflection. Research in the IBW should be reflected in the studio piece. The goal is to encourage and provoke higher levels of thought in regard to the media we produce and consume, especially in the context of visual art.
At the end of the student's senior year, the best 25-30 pages from across the two IBW are scanned and submitted to IB for evaluation along with 8-12 studio pieces, a 1000 word essay style commentary and a candidate statement of 300 words. The student is scored from 1-7 for possible credit from higher education institutions.
Below are the 30 pages from my two IBWs I submitted to IB for review. UPDATE: I earned a 5 and was able to skip a course!
